Keith Urban has said that his wife Nicole Kidman was "extraordinary" during his time in rehab for alcohol abuse.
The country singer admitted himself to rehab in October last year for a three-month stint, forcing the publicity schedule for his latest album to be put on hold.
Speaking for the first time on American television since he left rehab, Urban said that he is feeling "very grateful".
On the role Nicole - who he married just four months before rehab - played he told the Today show: "We've gone through a lot. She's been extraordinary."
"[Addiction has] nothing to do with contentedness and happiness. I had all of that. But I wasn't doing what I needed to be doing," he added.
Since leaving rehab Urban has embarked on his promotional engagements for his album Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing.
Urban married Kidman, who he has described as his "once in a lifetime love", in her native Sydney in June last year.
