Rachel Hylton has become the seventh person to be knocked out of this year's X Factor after losing the final showdown against the last remaining group, JLS.
The songstress from north-west London, 26, was voted out by 3-1 by the four judges despite a stirring performance of Jennifer Holliday's And I'm Telling You (I'm Not Going) in the sing-off.
JLS also performed well in the final two, choosing to sing a collaborative rendition incorporating Sean Kingston's Beautiful Girl and Stand By Me by Ben E King.
And with only her mentor Dannii Minogue voting in her favour, Rachel was consigned to sixth place, with Alexandra Burke, Diana Vickers, Ruth Lorenzo, Eoghan Quigg and JLS remaining in the final five.
"I'm fine," Rachel said afterwards. "Someone has to go."
Despite speculation of infighting between the two women earlier in the series, Dannii said: "She's an amazing, amazing person and I'm really going to miss her."
Both JLS and Rachel got good comments from the judges for their performances earlier in the main show, which was a Take That theme.
Louis Walsh's group sung a rendition of A Million Love Songs, despite originally wanting to perform the song that Rachel chose, Rule The World - a dispute that had left Dannii in tears during the show.
