Love Island fans might have enjoyed basking in the Fijian antics of C-list celebrities for the last seven weeks, but the show's grand finale didn't exactly pull in the punters yesterday.
Only an average 3.8 million people watched Bianca Gascoigne and Callum Best become the show's king and queen, following in the footsteps of last year's winners Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave.
That ratings count compares rather poorly with Murphy's Law, BBC1's hard-hitting drama starring James Nesbitt, which clocked an average 5.5 million viewers. Even BBC1's News At Ten did better, with 5.6 million tuning in.
Despite the rather disappointing finale figures ITV producers are reportedly already planning a third series of the show, considering reworking the format to more closely resemble bigger fish in the reality TV sea.
Not at all a bad idea, given that Big Brother regularly clocked in double the Love Island audience and forced reality TV addicts to make an oh-so-difficult choice between the two shows.
