The parents of abducted Madeleine McCann have pledged to stay in Portugal until at least the end of the summer.
Kate and Gerry McCann say that at the moment they cannot even contemplate leaving the Algarve resort where their daughter disappeared 37 days ago.
"This is the place where mentally they make a connection. They can't go from here," a family spokesman said.
"They don't put a specific timescale on it but they are prepared to live here until the end of the summer at the very earliest," he continued, adding that the McCanns were far from ready to return to their home in Rothley, Leicestershire.
"As far as they are concerned this is where Madeleine still is."
Madeleine, four, was taken from the couple's holiday apartment bedroom on May 3rd.
Despite massive media coverage in Britain and elsewhere around Europe there has been no sign of the girl or any strong leads concerning her disappearance.
Mr and Mrs McCann returned to the resort of Praia da Luz this weekend after a two-day tour of the continent, which saw them face questions in Germany as to whether they were implicated in their daughter's disappearance.
The couple, who also have two-year-old twins, will travel to Morocco next week in the last of their planned renewed appeals for information.
