Suicide bombers kill at least 11 people in Baghdad
Suicide bombers detonated explosives near two Shia mosques in Baghdad today killing at least 20 people and injuring 30 more, Iraqi officials claim.
Police said at least 12 people died after a car bomb attack in the Zafaraniya district and eight were killed by a bomber on foot in the Jadida district.
The car bomb attack is reported to have killed three soldiers after the suicide bomber drove his explosive-filled car into an Iraqi military vehicle.
Security officials had previously warned that militants might stage attacks during Ramadan, one of the most sacred festivals in the Muslim calendar.
The Iraqi military claims that violence in the capital has leapt during the last few weeks.
On Sunday, at least 32 people were killed and over 100 were wounded after a series of bomb attacks rocked the Iraqi capital.
