Irish international winger Kevin Kilbane has moved from Everton to Wigan in a deal estimated to be worth around £2 million.
Latics manager Paul Jewell has landed the 29-year-old wideman on a three-year contract with an option of an additional season once it has run its course.
Kilbane spoke of his excitement at making the switch to the JJB Stadium.
"Wigan had a terrific season last year, what they achieved was one of the stories of the Premiership," he said in an interview with his new club's official website.
"They are a highly ambitious club and have made some great signings over the summer," he added.
Jewell will be hoping that his new acquisition can supply the ammunition for another recent signing, striker Emile Heskey.
"I am delighted Kevin has agreed to come on board. He's another real quality acquisition for us," he told the club website.
"He brings something we haven't got at the club, a naturally attacking left-footed player."
Kilbane, who was granted leave from the Republic of Ireland camp to complete the transfer, leaves Merseyside after three seasons, 121 appearance and five goals for the Toffees.
