Wales boss John Toshack has opted to recall West Brom midfielder Jason Koumas for next month's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Slovakia and Cyprus.
Koumas was omitted from the group D opener against the Czech Republic earlier this month as he was lacking match fitness.
However, Toshack has been impressed with the former Tranmere Rovers star's return to fitness and is likely to hand him a starting role in the absence of captain Ryan Giggs.
The Manchester United winger is included in the squad but is unlikely to feature in either match due to a hamstring strain.
"Things are going okay," Giggs said. "I did some light jogging for the first time on Sunday. All I can do now is wait and see how the injury progresses."
Veteran striker John Hartson could be added to the squad if he can prove his fitness in time although Toshack will start Craig Bellamy up front.
Wales take on Slovakian at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on October 7th before Cyprus make the trip four days later.
Wales squad:
Paul Jones (QPR), Jason Brown (Blackburn), Lewis Price (Ipswich), Gareth Bale (Southampton), James Collins, Danny Gabbidon (both West Ham), Richard Duffy (Portsmouth), Rob Edwards (Wolves), Lewin Nyatanga (Derby), Robert Page (Coventry), Ryan Valentine, Mark Jones (both Wrexham), Andrew Crofts (Gillingham), Simon Davies (Everton), Carl Fletcher (Crystal Palace), Jason Koumas (West Brom), Carl Robinson (Norwich), Joe Ledley (Cardiff), David Vaughan (Crewe), Craig Bellamy (Liverpool), David Cotterill (Wigan), Rob Earnshaw (Norwich), Ryan Giggs (Man Utd, capt), Paul Parry (Cardiff).
