Everton manager David Moyes has backed striker James Beattie to fill the void left in the side following Tim Cahill's injury but says the striker must get back to his best form as his side face off against Bolton today.
Moyes explained: "We have found a way of playing with Tim Cahill playing behind Andy Johnson that has allowed us to be a little bit different and we have not already needed two up front."
"But we have done that a few times and now James has got to get himself back into the form we know he is capable of and hopefully he will do that."
Cahill is expected to be out for six to eight weeks with a knee injury sustained last week when he collided with team-mate Lee Carsley.
Moyes said: "Tim is one of our better ones but we are playing with confidence, we just have to keep playing in that way and those players that come in will hopefully take Tim's place."
Bolton threw away a two-goal lead at Sheffield United last week but are still fifth in the table having lost just three league games all season.
"We know all about their style and the strengths that they have. But first and foremost, we have got to be able to compete with them." Moyes concluded.
Bolton assistant manager Sammy Lee was equally wary of Everton's threat. He said: "Everton is a very hard place to go with a very atmospheric stadium, it's always full and they're a very good side, hard-working and disciplined."
