Sheffield United and Republic of Ireland keeper Paddy Kenny has been told not to go out in Halifax after a brawl left him without one of his eyebrows.
Blades boss Neil Warnock has stood by his number one, but admitted that the incident, which took place in the early hours of Monday morning, should have been avoided.
Warnock told BBC Radio Five Live that Kenny was "embarrassed" at getting involved in the brawl, which left him having his left eyebrow bitten off and with a swollen eye.
"He's let himself down and I think he's more embarrassed about it than anything else. This should have been avoided," Warnock said.
"The lads have got to learn that wherever you are when you're a Premiership footballer, you're news."
The outspoken United chief said he did not think the injuries Kenny sustained were his fault, adding: "His only fault was going out where he shouldn't have done.
"I've told Paddy in the past not to go out in Halifax, and all of a sudden he is back out there. It's not a coincidence.
"He won't be going out in Halifax again. I'll be making my point clear to him on that."
Last week there was similar controversy around the Bramall Lane club when the Blades' Ireland midfielder Alan Quinn was fined £750 and ordered to pay £1250 in other costs after admitting his involvement in a separate brawl.
The 27-year-old admitted to Sheffield crown court that he was part of a fight at a pub in the city that left a 39-year-old man needing hospital treatment.
