Blackburn Rovers said they were "disappointed" to receive a £10,000 fine from the Football Association (FA) for failing to control their players.

The fine relates to a match last season against Newcastle United which Rovers won 1-0 in the final minute of the match.

Blackburn chairman John Williams was amongst the club's contingent who attended the meeting of the FA's regulatory commission hearing in Manchester today.

An FA statement confirmed after the meeting: "Blackburn were warned as to their future conduct and fined £10,000, of which £7,500 was suspended until 31 May 2009."

Rovers said they were "disappointed" to be found guilty of failing to control their players.

The incident which caused the Blackburn players to react occurred in the 82nd minute of the game and involved Rovers winger Morten Gamst Pedersen and Newcastle defender Habib Beye.

The two players were disputing a throw-in when other Rovers players became involved, causing the situation to escalate.

Both Pedersen and Beye were booked but the referee did not take action against any other players on the pitch at the time.

No action was taken against Newcastle United or their player following a review of the incident.
