Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has written off his team's chances of claiming the Premiership title after they faltered once more at Bolton yesterday, losing 3-1 to the Lancashire side.
Wenger did praise the play and character of his players despite the loss as they hit the woodwork three times and had much of the play in the second-half but were unable to capitalise.
However this only left Wenger feeling more frustrated with his team's fortunes as they could not break their losing run against the Trotters and failed to take advantage of the inevitability of Chelsea and Manchester United taking points off each other today.
He said: "We are too far behind. If you look at the number of points we have dropped and the way we have played it is really difficult to take."
"You feel on one hand there is a lot of quality in the side, but on the other hand we cannot transform that into points, so it is very disappointing to be such a long way behind because I feel we have a good chance to play with the top teams."
The Gunners boss said that he was disappointed after the loss and felt that it came about because they failed to control the decisive moments in the game.
The Frenchman concluded that his young side were in the process of learning and that they could improve greatly in certain areas but said that the potential was there and he remained optimistic for the future.
