Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he did want to leave the club over the summer, but claims he now wants to stay and become a club legend.
The Portuguese winger feared a backlash after the controversy surrounding his part in Wayne Rooney's sending off during World Cup 2006.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, Ronaldo said: "It's true I said after the World Cup I might have to leave.
"I spoke to my agent and United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and I took a calm decision and decided to stay."
The youngster went on to say that he had set his sights on being a player remembered by future generations: "What I want to do is leave my mark on the club and for the fans to say I was one of the club's great players.
"What is important is that things turned out well. I'm at Manchester and I feel very good. This is one of the biggest clubs in the world."
