Frank Lampard expects Andriy Shevchenko to show the Premiership and the billions of people watching around the world his best form when Chelsea travel to Old Trafford today to take on league leader Manchester United.
Shevchenko has only scored three goals in 11 Premiership appearances since his reported £30 million arrival from AC Milan in the summer but has been contributing to a successful partnership with Didier Drogba and Lampard thinks the Ukrainian will shine this Sunday.
He said: "I know the player he is and I've got untold respect for him like I had before he came. He is in good form but he has come to another country and you have to adapt a little."
"But he is a fantastic player and with Michael Ballack they are renowned top players in the world. They perform in top games so I am hoping this is the sort of game that will bring the best out of Sheva [Shevchenko]."
Chelsea were boosted by the news that they should have Drogba and Ballack both back in the side despite the pair picking up knocks during their midweek Champions League game.
Lampard revealed that the Blues were driven to win the game today by the loss they suffered in the corresponding fixture last season. The England midfielder said that Chelsea felt they deserved something from the game that day and are determined to put it right this Sunday.
Meanwhile Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has urged his side to win to see what effect the pressure of chasing the title would do to Chelsea as a win would stretch United's lead to six points.
