New Macclesfield boss Paul Ince has admitted he would welcome any tactical guidance at Moss Rose from former England team-mate Paul Gascoigne.
The former Manchester United and Inter Milan midfielder was unveiled as the Silkmen's player-manager yesterday after putting pen to paper on an initial 14-month deal.
His first move in management could be a surprising one if he opts to recruit Gascoigne, whose own brief coaching career was brought to an abrupt end in December last year when he was sacked by Conference North side Kettering Town.
Ince said: "Paul is always welcome here. If he has any ideas he wants to pass, I'd welcome them. He has done some coaching before and I'd be interested in hearing his ideas."
Macclesfield are currently bottom of the Football League, seven points adrift of second-bottom Boston United, a club Gascoigne made a fleeting cameo for two years ago.
Despite the current standing of his new club, Ince is in no doubt as to his ambition and he added: "Obviously I'd like to manage in the Premiership. I was the first black England captain and it would be nice to be one of the first black Premiership managers.
"Sir Alex Ferguson always said you have to have high standards and that's what I've got. It's important that you learn what it's like in the lower leagues and that's what I intend to do.
"You're putting yourself up there to be shot at and that's what I like about it. Football's given me a great life and I'd hate to walk away and not try being a manager and, now I've got the chance, I'm very excited about it."
