Liverpool have moved to quash speculation that manager Rafael Benitez could quit the Merseyside club for a top job on the continent.
A report in the Sun newspaper quoted the former Valencia coach's agent as speculating that a move to Serie A could tempt his client away from Anfield.
"Benitez is a coach who is ideally suited to Italy and the country's style of football," Manuel Garcia Quilon reportedly said.
"He is one of the three best coaches in the world. If he gets an interesting offer from a club with a serious project, he will certainly consider it."
But a club spokesperson told the BBC that Benitez was committed to the Reds cause and would resist any overtures from Inter Milan and Real Madrid, the two clubs reported to be monitoring the Spaniard's situation.
"The manager has made it clear that he is very happy at the club," she said of the man who led the Reds to FA Cup and European Cup triumphs in his first two seasons in charge.
An expected Premiership challenge, after a summer of acquisitions, has yet to emerge however with Liverpool suffering a disappointing four league defeats already.
