Aston Villa hit back from their midweek defeat to West Ham, by beating Bolton Wanderers 5-1.
Ashley Young gave his side a fifth minute lead, and Gabriel Agbonlahor doubled the lead on 43 minutes.
Jonas Elmander pulled a goal back for Bolton just before half time, but Villa regained a two goal cushion through John Carew.
James Milner made it 4-1 on 73 minutes, after he knocked in the rebound after his own penalty had been saved.
Three minutes later, Carlos Cuellar completed the route as Villa moved up to fifth in the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur returned to the top four of the Premiership with a 2-0 win over Sunderland.
Robbie Keane gave his side a 12th minute lead as Spurs went into the break ahead.
However, Spurs 'keeper Heurelho Gomes brought down Darren Bent to give the visitors a penalty, but Gomes, who perhaps should have been sent off, kept out Bent's penalty to keep his side ahead.
Tom Huddlestone confirmed his team's three points with a late goal, as Spurs returned to winning ways after two consecutive defeats.
