Arsenal youngsters too good for Newcastle

A second-string Arsenal side left it late to secure a 2-0 win over Newcastle in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
An evenly-fought contest was decided in the last ten minutes as Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner and Brazilian midfielder Denilson averted the looming prospect of extra-time.
Although the Gunners dominated large swathes of the match they could easily have fallen behind in the first half had Obafemi Martins directed his header either side of Lukasz Fabianski.
The Nigerian striker's clever run bought a yard of space ahead of Philippe Senderos but his effort only found the Polish shot-stopper's gloves.
Otherwise though it was almost one-way traffic towards Shay Given's goal with Emmanuel Eboue, Theo Walcott and Eduardo da Silva all going close.
The onslaught continued through the second half but without a home breakthrough until Bendtner latched onto Armand Traore's deep cross from the left flank on 80 minutes.
Martins should have squared the scores soon after but his casual finish after rounding the sprawling Fabianski allowed Senderos time to cover the goaline and complete a hurried clearance.
With a minute left Denilson ruled out any further scares as he sent a fierce 25-yard effort screaming past Given to secure his side's progress.
