Arsenal closed the gap on the Premier League summit as they ran riot against Roberto Martinez's Wigan at the Emirates Stadium.
A comfortable 4-0 began when Thomas Vermaelan opened the scoring with a header at the near post and added an excellent second after half-time when he strode forward, exchanged passes with Emmanuel Eboue, and curled a shot past Chris Kirkland.
Eboue was credited with Arsenal's third after Eduardo's shot deflected in off him and Cesc Fabregras rounded off an impressive Gunners display with his side's fourth late on.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, are still without a point after losing 2-0 at Villa Park.
James Milner put Aston Villa ahead from the penalty spot after Nadir Belhadj had brought down Stylian Petrov in the penalty area. Gabriel Agbonlahor fired in the second just before half-time to seal the win for Martin O'Neill's side.
Bolton drew 1-1 with Stoke at the Reebok Stadium. Dave Kitson scored his third goal of the season to put Tony Pulis' side ahead but Matt Taylor scored his second penalty in as many games to secure a share of the spoils for Gary Megson's men.
And Birmingham grabbed their second win of the season at Hull thanks to Gary O'Connor's second-half header. The Scotland international came on after half-time and rose at the near post to nod in Keith Fahey's corner to secure a 1-0 win.
