Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Arsenal defender Kolo Toure on a four-year contract.
The 28-year-old has completed his medical and put pen-to-paper on the deal, which will keep him at Eastlands until the summer of 2013.
Toure, who has moved for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £16 million, becomes City's sixth big-money signing of the summer following the arrival of Gunners team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor along with Stuart Taylor, Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Gareth Barry.
"I am delighted to welcome Kolo to Manchester City," manager Mark Hughes explained.
"It is no secret that we have been looking to strengthen our defence, and in Kolo I feel we have recruited a world-class player."
Toure will come into City's backline alongside youngsters such as Micah Richards and Nedum Onuoha, who has just signed a new five-year contract with the club.
And Hughes believes the seasoned Ivory Coast international will add some much-needed nous to his backline.
"He brings a wealth of Premier League experience from his seven seasons with Arsenal," he continued.
"Kolo has been a central figure in a very strong Arsenal team for many years, and I have been an admirer of him for a long time.
"He is strong, quick, reads the game well and will be an influential figure in the dressing room."
