Andrey Arshavin has risked angering his manager Arsene Wenger after once again publicly criticising Arsenal, describing the club's performance last season as "pitiful".
Arsenal finished the 2009-10 season third in the Premier League, failed to challenge for any of the domestic cup competitions and were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Barcelona.
The season was the Gunners fifth without a trophy and Arshavin has continually expressed his frustration at missing out on silverware at the Emirates.
In his latest outburst to the Sun newspaper, the 29-year-old Russian said: "There was nothing special last season for me to think back about.
"The season was normal - even pitiful."
Back in April, Arshavin caused Wenger something of a headache after he was quoted claiming he still wanted to play for Barcelona.
Speaking to the Russian newspaper Sport Express, he said: "If I have the opportunity to play one season in Barcelona, it would be the peak of my career."
Discussing Arsenal's defeat to Barcelona, he added: "After Arsenal played against Barca in the Champions League, my feeling of excitement changed to a feeling of dissatisfaction because the Spanish club has become much stronger than any other."
