Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti was impressed with his team's response after their defeat to Wigan last week, as they beat Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
They lost that game 3-1, but hit back with a deserved 2-0 win against the Merseyside team, and Ancelotti revealed his side tried to erase last week's match as soon as possible.
Ancelotti said: "The Wigan defeat went from our mind after the match. We wanted to think of the matches ahead against Nicosia and Liverpool.
"We did a fantastic job today. We needed to, because you can't win against the big teams without a good performance. We stayed compact and applied ourselves well."
Chelsea goalkeeper Hilario produced a faultless display in place of the suspended Petr Cech, and the Portuguese stopper believes winning the big games at home is crucial if Chelsea are going to win the league.
Hilario said: "It is very important to get back on top.
"In the last two years, we have lost the title after not winning enough games at home, and it is important we win more this season to get the title back."
Hilario has been used sparingly since joining Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, but says that he believes the pressure to perform when required is normal.
"There is always pressure in the big games, but I am not afraid of pressure and I am happy to play."
