Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald has argued her compatriot Paolo Nutini deserved a Brit award this week.
The Candy singer was nominated in the best British male category but lost out to Dizzee Rascal at Tuesday's ceremony.
Speaking to inthenews.co.uk ahead of the release of her upcoming second album A Curious Thing, Macdonald said Nutini's missing out an award was the biggest surprise about the event.
"I wasn't too surprised by the way anything went though, I think from seeing the nominations it was obvious," she explained.
"I thought that Paolo should have got something though! He's done so well, he's had one of the highest-selling albums this year, he's been number one three times - it is a bit odd that he didn't get anything!"
Macdonald told inthenews.co.uk: "He's a lovely, brilliant guy as well. People have just fallen in love with him and his album and I think it would have been a better reflection of the industry if he had won."
Amy Macdonald's new album is released on March 8th.
