Watchdog presenter Matt Allwright is to host The One Show for the next fortnight, after the departure of Adrian Chiles, it has been confirmed.
Allwright will host the majority of editions of the BBC1 magazine show over the next two weeks while Have I Got News For You panellist Paul Merton will be a guest presenter.
Merton will host The One Show on Thursday May 6th, with Allwright already scheduled to host consumer programme Watchdog on that day.
The guest appointments come as the BBC seeks a permanent replacement for former One Show host Adrian Chiles, who announced he was leaving the BBC having agreed a four-year contract with ITV and GMTV.
Chiles' departure had been rumoured after Chris Evans was announced as the new host of Friday editions of The One Show.
Chiles said it was "no secret how disappointed" he was at the change, noting that his decision to leave came at an "awkward period for me at the BBC".
