Actor Alec Baldwin and comedian Steve Martin have been named as the hosts of the upcoming 82nd annual Academy awards.
"I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin," said Martin, who hosted the 73rd and 75th Oscar ceremonies.
"I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars - it's the opportunity of a lifetime," Baldwin, a best supporting actor nominee in 2003 for The Cooler, added.
Ahead of their Oscar hosting duties, the pair can be seen alongside two-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep in upcoming romantic comedy It's Complicated.
Co-hosts are a rarity for the Academy awards, though the post has been shared before, with Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn and Paul Hogan co-hosting in 1987, and Sammy Davis Jr, Bob Hope, Shirley MacLaine and Frank Sinatra MCing in 1975.
"We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars," said Oscars producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman in a statement.
"Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event."
