Everton have revealed top-scorer Andy Johnson will be back in a few weeks from an ankle injury.
The striker was stretchered off with a brace around his left leg in yesterday's 2-0 win over Wigan at the JJB Stadium.
A scan showed there was no bone damage to quash fears the 25-year-old would miss the rest of the season.
Everton physio Mick Rathbone said the club were pleased the injury was not as serious as first feared.
"Andy had further scans this morning and after an appointment with a consultant afterwards we were able to update our diagnosis," Rathbone told the club's website.
"All the evidence suggests that there is no bone injury and that the damage is confined to the soft tissues. Although this can be interpreted as good news, it is still a significant ankle injury.
"I would estimate a recovery period for Andy of a matter of weeks rather than months."
Johnson collapsed in agony after colliding with Latics goalkeeper Chris Kirkland in the second half of yesterday's victory.
The England striker, who has scored nine goals this season, will miss Everton's Merseyside derby with Liverpool next month but should be fit for the clash with Arsenal on February 18th.
Johnson's injury is also a blow to England boss Steve McClaren who was expected to pick the former Crystal Palace marksman in his squad for the friendly with Spain on February 7th at Old Trafford.
