Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has warned his teammates that they must improve their performance level if they are to avoid seeing their title challenge fall apart against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium of Saturday.
Agger was one of the few first-team regulars who played in Wednesday's 4-2 defeat at Tottenham in the Carling Cup and has told the other players that a repeat performance will not be good enough.
"Our team performance was just not good enough," the Danish international said.
"We were far from strong enough and we have to do better.
"But now we will think about improving against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday - that is all we can do.
"We take every game as it comes and must play a lot better than how we performed against Tottenham.
Liverpool have a terrible record at the Reebok under Rafa Benitez, but will need to put that behind them against an in-form side if they are to keep the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the table.
"Bolton are a physical and strong team so it will be a tough match for us, but we are focused on making improvements in every area," Agger said.
"We definitely have to do better."
