Felipe Massa says that there is only a remote chance of him making a return to formula one racing in Abu Dhabi.
The Brazilian suffered life-threatening injuries when a loose spring from Rubens Barrichello's car collided with his head during qualifying for the Hungarian grand prix in July.
As part of his recovery, Massa has been working in Ferrari's simulator for the past two days and is expected to complete running in a 2007-spec car on Monday for the first time since his accident.
In a live chat with fans on the Ferrari website, Massa expressed doubt whether he will be fit enough to make his come-back before the start of the 2010 season.
"I hope that I'll be back soon, but I also know that the best thing is that I'm coming back 100 per cent at the start of the next season," said Massa.
"My dream would be to race in Abu Dhabi, but the possibility is really, really low."
Although it is unlikely that he'll be fit enough to race in Abu Dhabi, Massa said he was pleased with what he had achieved in Ferrari's simulator and he remained optimistic about running in an F2007.
"I spent two very intense and interesting days driving in Barcelona and then in Interlagos and Abu Dhabi on the simulator," said Massa.
"Tomorrow I'll go to Paris for some medical check ups at the FIA and on Monday, if the weather is fine, I should finally be behind the wheel of a Formula 1 single-seater.
"I hope that I can do many miles and do well, not only in terms of performance but also as far as constant lap times are concerned.
"I'm confident and I think that there won't be any problems.
"It's true that a formula one vibrates a lot and there is lots of physical stress, but I'm used to it."
