A domestic flight has crashed shortly after takeoff in the US state of Kentucky, killing all but one of the 50 people on board.
Flight 5191, operated by Delta Air Line's regional carrier Comair crashed at about 07:00 local time (12:00 BST) at Lexington's Blue Grass airport, bound for Atlanta, Georgia.
Reports suggest that the sole survivor is a male passenger, who has been taken to the University of Kentucky hospital and is in a critical condition.
The Bombardier Canadair CRJ-100 jet is thought to have had 47 passengers and three crew members on board when it took off, although an additional off-duty member of staff may have been present.
Family and friends of those involved in the crash are gathering at Blue Grass airport awaiting further news of the tragedy.
There is no official explanation as to what caused the crash, but Comair's chief executive officer, Don Bornhorst has expressed his "sadness and deep concern for everyone involved".
"My thoughts and prayers, and the thoughts and prayers of the entire Comair team, are with them," he said.
"At this early stage, I want to emphasise our commitment to our passengers, their families and friends about flight 5191."
