Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni could not hide his anger after watching his side miss out on a World Cup place at the hands of France in Paris.
Robbie Keane forced the qualifying play-off into extra-time with his first-half strike, only for William Gallas to score a controversial winner.
The goal should not have stood though due to Thierry Henry's handball in the build-up.
Speaking after the game, Trapattoni said: "We are angry. It is a bitter evening for me.
"We played a great game. We deserved to win."
Ireland striker Kevin Doyle agreed with his manager and said it was sickening to see replays of Gallas' winning goal.
"We played excellently and created chances.
"To see that goal on TV, it is just sickening."
The Wolves striker did not blame Henry though and believes the officials should have seen the offence.
"You do not blame the player if he can get away with it, it is nearly a natural reaction.
"I am sure Henry did not expect to get away with it because it was so obvious. It is difficult, we are all gutted.
"He should have been caught though.
"The linesman had the best view, apart from Shay Given."
