Kim Clijsters revealed that "aggression" was the key to her 6-2 6-4 US Open quarter-final victory over 18th seed Li Na of China.
The 26-year-old Belgian wildcard, who has missed every grand slam since the 2007 US Open, will find herself back in the world's top 50 following victories over higher-ranked players such as Venus Williams, Marion Bartoli and now Li.
More importantly, she is in the last four of the US Open where she will be confident of her chances - having had her serve broken only once in her quarter-final.
She also managed to preserve much-needed energy by completing her day's work in just over an hour.
In the last-four, Clijsters will face home favourite Serena Williams, who made similarly short work of her quarter-final against Italy's Flavia Pennetta - winning 6-4 6-3.
Commenting on her victory, Clijsters said: "I wanted to be aggressive and I think that's what helped winning those important points today."
Judging by the reaction of the New York crowd it seems that her baby Jaden isn't the only person who loves this popular former fiance of Lleyton Hewitt.
One player who will be looking to emulate Clijsters' feats in a few years time is Laura Robson.
The 15-year-old former Wimbledon junior girls' champion hasn't been seeded in this year's US Open junior tournament.
But that didn't stop her coming back from dropping the first set, and being 4-1 down in the deciding set, to defeat seventh seed Lauren Embree 4-6 6-1 6-4.
