British people like to think that their television programmes and sense of humour outshine everyone else's in the world, and last night's International Emmy awards proved that, for this year at least, they may just be right.
Some of the main awards were handed to British actors and producers in a star-studded ceremony held at the New York Hilton.
British presenter and chat show host Graham Norton hosted the evening and was joined by international stars including Susan Sarandon, Christiane Amanpour and Roger Bart to hand out the awards.
