Amanda Redman stars in At Home with the Braithwaites.
At Home with the Braithwaites and TittyBangBang in this week's TV releases on DVD.
A third series of ITV1's At Home with the Braithwaites comes to DVD this week, with the titular family still getting to grips with the recriminations of matriarch Alison's (Amanda Redman) £38 million lottery win.
After the lottery company discovers Alison's underage daughter Charlotte (Keeley Fawcett) bought the original winning ticket, the Braithwaites' fortune evaporates and when Alison falls pregnant with her brother-in-law Graham's (Ray Stevenson) baby, all seems lost for the dysfunctional family, until the intervention of Ray Winstone. Whose help is probably always useful when you're in a tight spot…
A detective with basically only one method of detection in his locker comes to DVD this week, as the eighth series of Colombo hits the shelves.
Peter Falk is back as the cigar-chomping, glass-eyed private dick, eagerly piecing together a series of murders, routinely prefacing his conclusion with the phrase "One more thing… "
There's a daytime crime theme this week, it seems, as series seven of Murder She Wrote is released, Angela Lansbury again starring as writer-turned-amateur-detective Jessica Fletcher.
A revolving door policy of 'special guest stars' helps keep the show's assortment of villains fresh and though the horrific luck that clearly plagued Fletcher can get a bit tiresome - somebody dies everywhere she goes! - it's still an enjoyably cosy way to spend an afternoon.
The seventh series of Magnum PI is also out this week, with Tom Selleck in all his moustachioed glory as the flamboyant Hawaii-based private investigator.
As a former Navy SEAL, Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV has the brawn to cope with anything that comes his way - except the continual bartering he is forced to indulge in with Jonathan Quayle Higgins III, the English estate manager of the palatial beachfront complex owned by the enigmatic author Robin Masters.
With a Ferrari 308 GTS playing a seemingly integral role in his crime-fighting act ivies, Magnum embarks on a range of action-packed exploits, which frequently involved beer, blondes and Magnum's buddies TC (Roger E Mosley) and Rick (Larry Manetti).
Following the sad death of Roy Scheider, series two of seaQuest DSV is out this week, bringing underwater adventure to your DVD player.
The crew of the eponymous vessel patrol the seas, with Captain Nathan Bridger (Scheider), giant janitor Dagwood (Peter DeLuise), clairvoyant doctor Wendy Smith (Rosalind Allen) and teen computer genius Lucas (Jonathan Brandis) working together to prevent aqueous war. Some younger members join a revived ship after Captain Bridger was forced to sacrifice the seaQuest to prevent ecological doom.
And finally, the second series of TittyBangBang is released, with Lucy Montgomery and Debbie Chazen again at the forefront of the intermittently amusing BBC3 sketch show.
