Kylie wants you in her arms this week - form an orderly queue
We've got the perfect antidote to the recent cold and wet start to spring in the shape of this week's brand new singles that include Melody Gardot, Kylie and Post War Years.
Single of the Week
Melody Gardot: Goodnite
Universal Music; digital May 5th
Fresh from a superb performance on Later With Jools Holland, the fantastically talented Melody Gardot presents Goodnite, the first single from her new album Worrisome Heart.
Delicate but confident vocals with lashings of smoky breathiness, Goodnite marks out Gardot as a musical tour de force.
The twentysomething from America sings and plays guitar and piano on the record, and plans to tour the UK early this month.
She plays London's Bush Hall on May 2nd; Birmingham Glee Club (6th); Milton Keynes Stables (7th); The Sage Gateshead (9th) and Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms on the 11th.

Post War Years: Black Morning

Produced by the enigmatic-sounding Mysterons, Black Morning is a jazz-influenced belter with echoes of 70s Bowie. Your ears will thank you for letting them listen to this.

David Jordan: Move On
Mercury Music/ZTT Records; out May 5th
I'm really starting to warm to David Jordan, and new single Move On is a brilliant chunk of pulsing powersoul that has me bobbing my head along to the rhythm and lyrics that fuse Craig David with the Isley Brothers by way of early 90s Prince and his New Power Generation.
Track three, an instrumental of Move On, is outstanding and skillfully complements both the cracking radio edit and the slick album version.
Move On, from the 22-year-old's album Set The Mood, neatly sets the scene for a summer of festival dates for the Londoner whose live shows have been described as electrifying and loud, drawing comparisons with Prince.
Catch him at T in the Park on July 12th; Oxegen Festival (13th) and V on August 16th and 17th.
Santogold: Les Artistes
Atlantic; out May 5th
She's been tipped for the top by all and sundry - find out why below:

Charlatans: The Misbegotten
Cooking Vinyl; out May 5th
Once upon a time, well, in 1989 and 1990, indie music was rapidly establishing itself as the new mainstream and the Charlatans' The Only One I Know was one of the songs at the forefront of that glorious musical revolution.
Now they're back with all the jangly, spiky and moody magic that made one generation fell in love with them, with another on the cusp of doing exactly the same thanks to new single The Misbegotten.
It's good to have the Charlatans back on form, and it’s starting to sound a lot like 1990 around here but with a sizzling, knowing 21st century undercurrent. Pass me the cider and let's watch the sun come up on another summer morning.
The Misbegotten; B-side Blank Heart Blank Mind and track three on the single, the anthemic Set Me Free, are indie par excellence.
Wiley: Wearing My Rolex
Atlantic: out May 5th
Already at number four on downloads alone, the former Roll Deep MC drops a slice of infectious 'electro-grime' - take a look.
