Kings Have Long Arms and Candie Payne - safe from the rain
Salford-born, Sheffield-based eccentric popster Adrian Flanagan, aka Kings Have Long Arms' music has been subverting the dancefloors of all the coolest parties of recent years.

KHLA have released a handful of critically acclaimed 7”s, including one on Norwegian popstar Annie’s own label. His new release, Big Umbrella, will be the first for Double Six Records and will be released on January 7th 2008.

On the budget of a giro, and thanks to a couple of mates giving him free studio time, he's notched up an impressive list of collaborations which include Phil Oakey from the Human League, the Smiths' Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce, Mungo Jerry of In The Summertime fame, as well as the All Seeing I, Fat Truckers, Add N to X and Ladytron. On lovely new single Big Umbrella, Adrian convinced one of the UK's most exciting new voices, Candie Payne to join forces. She herself has been notching up critical acclaim for her fantastic LP I Wish I Could Have Loved You More and has collaborated with Mark Ronson and Kevin Ayers, with plenty more queuing up to work with her.

"To me Miss Payne is one of the only heartbeats left in popular music", explains Kings Have Long Arms' Adrian Flanagan. "I unashamedly begged Candie to sing my song. I offered to pick up the leaves in her garden as an exchange for her lending me her voice, but little did I know she lived in a park. One month later and with 689 industrial bin bags full of leaves ready for collection, Candie came over to Sheffield to sing my song."

What is Big Umbrella all about?
"It's a song that puts big loving arms around all forms of metaphorical bad weather… It's possibly the world's biggest ever hug."
