The first picture of Matt Smith in costume as the new Doctor Who has been unveiled.
Smith begins filming his first scenes as the Time Lord alongside new assistant Karen Gillan in Cardiff on Monday, with the new series due on UK screens in spring 2010.
And as work on the new adventures commences, the BBC have released a picture of Smith, the 11th doctor, and Gillan in costume, which can be seen below.
"I feel very privileged and proud to be part of this iconic show," Smith said after arriving for the first day of filming.
"The scripts are brilliant and working alongside Karen, [show runner] Steven [Moffat] and the rest of the crew is an inspiration because their work ethic and passion for the show is so admirable.
"I'm excited about the future and all the brilliant adventures I get to go on as the Doctor."
