Scarlett Johansson has denied that her "ridiculous" demands led to her not playing the lead role in the stage revival of The Sound of Music.
Producer Andrew Lloyd-Webber was quoted in the Times as saying that her "people were not pro the idea".
"It became clear it wasn't going to work because the demands became so ridiculous," he said.
"They couldn't understand why she would want to appear in the West End for £10,000 a week when she could be earning £10 million dollars for a movie. It was annoying because she really wanted to do it."
Demands included the need for two bodyguards to be backstage at all times.
However a spokesperson for the Lost In Translation star has said that Sir Andrew's claims were "extremely exaggerated".
According to the spokesperson, the demands were in line with those expected of an "actress of her stature" and that work commitments were the real reason she had to pull out of the show.
"The real reason why the negotiations stopped was the run of the play interfered with the production of one of the films she was slated to accomplish," the spokesperson said.
As a result, producers of the show are now searching for an unknown star to play Maria von Trapp in the BBC reality TV show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?
Scarlett meanwhile is busy working on new projects as well as promoting her latest film, Scoop.
