Jason Donovan and Martine McCutcheon are set to make a return to the world of soaps in ITV1's Echo Beach.
Former Neighbours actor Donovan will star as the ex-partner of McCutcheon, who rose to stardom as Tiffany in EastEnders.
Tony Jordan, the lead writer and story consultant for EastEnders, will also work on the soap as an executive producer.
Uniquely, Echo Beach will be one half of one story and will run in tandem with another show called Moving Wallpaper, which will depict producers and TV crews making the soap which is played out on Echo Beach.
There will be a crossover of the cast in both shows, including when former Footballers Wives star Susie May stars as an aspiring actress looking for a speaking part in Moving Wallpaper and will then in Echo Beach when she delivers the line she managed to get.
Ben Miller, who also featured in Primeval and The Worst Week, will star at the hapless producer trying to make Echo Beach on the comedy Moving Wallpaper.
Jordan has created environments for both programmes, with the fictional resort of Polnarren in Cornwall the setting for Echo Beach and the production offices of the soap for Moving Wallpaper.
The soap will depict the lives of Daniel (Donovan) and Susan (McCutcheon), whose affairs are complicated by teen angst, family loyalties and tested friendships.
