Knightley confirmed as face of Chanel
Film beauty Keira Knightley has been confirmed today as the face of French fashion house Chanel's new fragrance.

Rumours have been circulating for some time now that the 21-year-old stunner would land the job but Chanel has finally verified that she will be promoting the group's Coco Mademoiselle in a multimillion pound advertising campaign.

A Chanel spokeswoman said: "Keira's elegance, beauty and modernity are but a few of the qualities that parallel the iconic faces featured in the legendary Chanel fragrance campaigns."

Chanel artistic director Jacques Helleu also voiced his confidence the actress will prove a success, saying: Keira is a bright, young actress who has already made her mark in a diverse portfolio of films."

Knightley, who takes over from Kate Moss as one of the faces of Chanel, will be paid $1 million for her role in the print and television advertising campaigns.

Today's news signifies the Middlesex lass' continued rise from relative anonymity five years ago to global celebrity stardom today.

Film successes such Pirates of the Caribbean and Love Actually have helped her stake soar while Pride & Prejudice recently earned her a first Oscar nomination.track
