Brit and Alex: Ready to unleash their 'melting pop'

Other Reviews

Singer-songwriter siblings Brit and Alex will be releasing their debut album during the summer through Interscope Records.

The 22-year-olds' sizzling vocals electrified the soundtrack of Step Up 2: The Streets which featured their debut single Let It Go.

The smouldering single showed what the sisters, born in Connecticut 45 minutes apart, have lined up for the forthcoming LP.

As Alex said: "It tells the story of a girl on the outside looking in, wondering 'where do I go from here?' It's about breaking free.

"As a debut single Let It Go made so much sense for us. We want everyone to hear what we've been doing!"

Record labels have been trying to woo the talented duo for several years but it was Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Records, who after hearing two songs, signed them on the spot.

Let It Go – urban, breathy and sassy – and the forthcoming debut album marks the culmination of six years of hard work by the determined and energetic sisters.

Prior to singing the sisters started as actors, when at the tender age of three they both won the role of Jessica in the US soap One Life To Live through to becoming the 'face' of John Frieda's Sheer Blonde advertising campaign, which saw the girls singing a song called Are You Ready?

Now Brit and Alex are ready to unleash their music which they refer to as 'melting pop' on the world.

The girls' album has been produced by Dallas Austin, who calls them the new TLC, and Tricky Stewart who has worked with Rihanna and Mary J Blige.

Commenting on the girls Interscope's chairman Jimmy Iovine said: "Brit and Alex have a unique appeal in that their music is so diverse.

"The minute I met the girls and heard their music I knew they had something fresh that was special to them. We're looking forward to great opportunities as we work with them in the years ahead."
