Interscope, out now.
In a nutshell...
Boom boom pow. The end.
What's it all about?
Funk, funk and more funk! E.N.D. stands for energy never dies, which is certainly true of this lot. Innovative, daring, transgressional, this album has all the things we expect of the Peas.
Who's it by?
Black Eyed Peas. Der!The very same folks who brought us such treats as Where Is The Love?, My Humps and Let's Get It Started. That's Fergie, will.i.am ... and two other blokes.
As an example.
"I'm so 3008, you're so two thousand and late."
Likelihood of a trip to the Grammys
Well they've already been there several occasions, so why stop now?! With three wins and 11 nominations under their belts, The E.N.D. can only add to their past awards success.
What the others say
"Daring and constantly innovative, the Black Eyed Peas have taken the techno/RnB door opened by Kanye West and flung it open wide." -Talia Kraines, BBC
So is it any good?
Yes and no! As an album it feels somewhat discombobulated, borne out of will's desire to make a collection of hit singles for DJs and the kids alike, rather than an holistic CD offering people would storm HMV to get their hands on.
As usual, Fergie's vocals shine through and make the best tracks just that. From the soulful songstress in Meet Me Halfway to pop princess in Alive.
Taken as an album, The E.N.D. is not that remarkable, but considered as 16 separate offerings, the songs themselves are pretty damn good.
It seems the magical combination of Fergie, will and the other two continues to work, despite the potential for argy-bargy which could stem from the fact that Fergie made it on her own, but will didn't.
On the dancefloor you'll be loving every second of The E.N.D., but don't expect to be able to sit down and listen to the whole thing beginning to end - it just doesn't work in that way.
