Kitsune Maison, out October 27th.
In a nutshell...
A colourful and eclectic mix of some of the brightest stars from the electro frontier.
What's it all about?
Number six in the Kitsune series serves up yet another stylish slice from the labels' favourite artists featuring some up-and-coming unsigned talent and several established names.
Who's it by?
Kistune are a Paris-based label who excel at trendsetting like only the French can. Fischerspooner and Digitalism have offered some tracks for this album but new kid on the block A-Trak earns himself a place next to these two along with a host of other digi-disco debuatantes including Appaloosa and Pnau.
As an example...
"I wish I was Polar Bear."
"Clouds above and dreams below, people dancing toe to toe, but talking in circles, on the way home."
Likelihood of a trip to the Grammys
Highly unlikely, unless neon and lycra are this year's fashion tip for the red carpet set. That said, this is a very accessible album that makes a confident effort at bringing the full electro spectrum together and giving some truly experimental acts a chance to sit alongside some of the bigger names in the genre.
What the others say
"... an unerringly accurate snapshot of what's moving young, fashion-led dancefloors in Europe." Fact magazine
So is it any good?
Like most compilation albums, peaks and troughs are to be expected but highlights on the album include the demure pop delight that is La Roux who must surely have been raised on strict diet of shoulder pads and Kate Bush to produce this eighties synth classic. A-trak's Say Whoa is about as mainstream as things get on here but would probably go down well with fans of the Chemical Brothers and Groove Armada.
