The video for Duran Duran's Rio has been voted the greatest of all time.
The 1982 video, featuring the British band on a Caribbean island, held off stiff competition from artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna and Nirvana to take the prize.
Bjork's video for All Is Full of Love, in which she plays a robot, was voted the second best video.
A-ha's video for Take on Me, where a comic book character comes to life was third, followed by Jackson's Thriller.
Sigu Ros's video for Svefn-g-Englar was fifth in the MTV poll, with Nirvana's 1991 video for Smells Like Teen Spirit one behind.
Almost 40,000 people took part in the poll.
