Pete Doherty performs in public for first time since being released from jail last week

Pete Doherty has performed in public for the first time since being released from jail ahead of schedule.

The 29-year-old's band Babyshambles played to a packed audience at The Forum in Kentish Town, north London, last night.

Last week Doherty was made a free man once again after serving just four weeks of his 14-week prison sentence for breaching a probation order.

The singer was said to be looking sober at last night's gig, which comes after he left Wormwood Scrubs proudly holding a certificate proving he had stayed clean from drugs during his stay.

Speaking to fans at The Forum Doherty thanked supporters who had "[written] a letter over the last month".

He also admitted that he felt a "bit rusty" after four weeks in the cells.

Fans left the venue happy though as the band raced through hits including Delivery and Killamangiro.

They were also treated to a duet between Doherty and Pogues singer Shane MacGowan, with the pair performing Ewan MacColl's Dirty Old Town. End of story
