Rolling Stones entertain crowds at UK premiere of Shine a Light
The Rolling Stones defied their combined age of 254 as they attended the West End premiere of their new film Shine a Light.

The Martin Scorsese-directed rockumentary splices archive footage and backstage interviews with two New York gigs from the band's Bigger Bang tour in 2006.

All four members of the group were in Leicester Square last night to entertain hundreds of fans who braved the light rain.

Mick Jagger, 64, told reporters working with Oscar-winning director Scorsese had been "fantastic".

Bassist Mick Wood, 60, said Shine a Light "scratched the surface" of the band's 46-year career.

"It is only a little taster... but it was good fun," he said.

Keith Richards and Charlie Watts were in a modest mood as they graced the red carpet alongside Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, TV presenter Alexa Chung, DJ Alex Zane and comedians Noel Fielding and Rob Brydon.

"It's kind of weird because I'm just a guitar player," Richards said.

"My grandfather used to play violin for the crowds here, he was a busker, so in a way it's one for granddad."

Watts added: "I didn't do anything, I just played the drums."

Shine a Light goes on general release on April 4th.End of story
