Scissor Sisters to play free gig in Trafalgar Square

Friday, 18 Aug 2006 13:55
Scissor Sisters to rock Trafalgar Square
Flamboyant band the Scissor Sisters are to play a free concert in London's Trafalgar Square as a one-off special.

In what will be one of the group's biggest individual gigs in the UK, the concert is to promote the Global Fund – which provides funding for programmes to fight Aids – and will coincide with the release of their second album.

Singer Babydaddy said: "London is our spiritual home, and the UK gave us our first and longest-lasting embrace. To be able to play this event in conjunction with the campaign and to launch our new album, seemed the perfect match, as every step towards success for us means a chance to give back to the global family."

Supported by the mayor of London, tickets for the concert can be obtained through a prize draw launched today.

Fans can apply for tickets by texting the word 'motored' to 80855 and the line will be open for the next ten days. The cost of each text is £1.50 and all profits will go direct to the Global Fund. Lucky winners, who will be picked at random, will be notified the week commencing August 28th.

Scissor Sisters' latest single, I Don't Feel Like Dancin', is taken from the forthcoming album Ta Dah and will be released on September 4th.

Their debut album sold 2.4 million copies in the UK alone and led to three Brit awards in 2005.End of story
