Billie Piper has revealed that she almost killed herself during a low point in her teenage pop star years.
She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper that she was tempted by the thought of ending it all when, as a 16-year-old, she was depressed and alone on tour in Los Angeles, far from home.
The 24-year-old, who since her chart-topping escapades in the late '90s has settled into a successful career as an actress, revealed details about her life ahead of the publication of a new autobiography, Growing Pains.
It might be considered a bit precocious in most 24-year-olds to put out an autobiography, but not so for Billie.
The actress has certainly packed a lot into her short life – including the initial pop success, her subsequent battle with anorexia and marriage to Chris Evans, and her latest reincarnation as Rose Tyler in the recent Doctor Who series.
"I didn't feel qualified or ready to talk about it until I was really, really well, this year," she said, explaining how she has stopped weighing herself.
