Pete Doherty has been moved to a safe area of Wormwood Scrubs prison following an alleged plot to attack him, reports claim.

The Babyshambles frontman was jailed earlier this month for 14 weeks after violating the terms of his probation order.

And according to Sky News, the 29-year-old has now been moved to a high security segregation unit after prison officers discovered a plan among fellow inmates to attack him.

Doherty is said to have asked for the move after officers informed him of the plans.

The singer-songwriter faced a strip-search this week after tabloid reports claimed Doherty was injecting in his cell, though a source quoted by Sky News claims the musician was unperturbed by the search.

"He was quiet. He was calm. But he did seem pale - like Casper the Ghost," the source said.

"Pete is in the segregation unit for his own safety, and partly because he asked for the move himself."

Doherty was jailed on April 8th for "his breach of time keeping, non-compliance of his [drug] order and using different drugs", according to a spokesperson from the listing department at West London magistrates' court.

The prison sentence marks the latest in a long line of legal troubles for the former Libertine, who served two months in jail in 2003 after burgling his band mate Carl Barat's flat.

Doherty was asked to leave the Libertines in 2004 due to his continued drug abuse and has made the headlines for numerous narcotics offences as well as brushes with the paparazzi, allegations of assault and reported joy riding.
