Rising stars La Roux face a stiff challenge to top the UK singles and album charts this week from the late Michael Jackson, it has been confirmed.
The Brixton electropop duo debuted at number one in the UK singles chart on Sunday with new single Bulletproof and could see their self-titled first album following suit.
However, the tragic death of the self-styled King of Pop has seen Jackson's back catalogue race up the UK charts.
After the singer's untimely death last week, some 200,000 singles and 100,000 albums were sold in the space of two days, as British fans reminded themselves of his brilliant career.
And according to the Official Charts Company, Jackson's track Man in the Mirror is marginally ahead of La Roux's Bulletproof in the race to top the singles charts.
But La Roux could cap an impressive fortnight - which featured an acclaimed performance at the Glastonbury Festival - by beating Jackson albums Number Ones, The Essential and King Of Pop to the number one spot in the UK album charts.
