Soggy final day at Reading

Sunday, 24 Aug 2008 16:44
A quiet Killers set led the way on Saturday night at Reading
Heavy overnight showers meant music fans at the Reading festival faced a soggy final day.

But with the rain holding off day three highlights are set to include Pendulum, Conor Oberst and Last Shadow Puppets before Metallica close the festival.

It is currently damp underfoot and all the bands on the main stage have been pushed forward after Slipknot slipped out of the line-up due to injury.

Yesterday's highlights included storming sets from Joe Lean, Seasick Steve and Bloc Party before The Killers headlined.

Some of the more observant at the festival will have noticed Kelly Osbourne fighting a losing battle to put up her tent backstage.

The Killers' set may have included a cover of Joy Division's Shadowplay but, for many in the crowd, it lacked a little something in the volume stakes.

It was "disappointingly quiet" according to one festivalgoer, who told inthenews.co.uk there were regular chants of "turn it up!" from the crowd throughout.
