A duet between Katie Melua and the late Eva Cassidy has knocked Leona Lewis off the top of the UK singles chart.

The singers' cover of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, the proceeds of which go to the British Red Cross, ends Leona's seven-week reign at number one.

But the former X Factor winner can console herself with the fact that her album, Spirit, is still outselling everything else for a fifth straight week.

Despite the success of What a Wonderful World by Melua and her idol Cassidy – who died of cancer 11 years ago - Leona's successor as X Factor champion Leon Jackson is still favourite to claim the coveted Christmas number one with his cover of When you Believe.

Festive-themed songs dominate the top ten, with Mariah Carey moving up to number four with All I Want for Christmas Is You, while Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl is at eight.

And in the albums chart a late surge from Michael Buble sees his Call Me Irresponsible move into third place, one behind Westlife's Back Home.
